Oregon Family Law:
Oregon Parenting Plan
Courts want children to spend significant time with both parents. Many
counties have standard parenting plans that are routinely followed. Those
can be reviewed at your county law library and are called "Supplemental
Local Rules." Look for the standard parenting plans in chapter 8
or at the end of the Supplemental Local Rules.
When children are age three or older, it is standard to have parenting
time that includes every other weekend, Friday night to Sunday night,
alternating major holidays, half of the winter vacation period of the
school district where the children reside (whether or not they are attending
school), alternating spring breaks, and one month during the summer.
This standard plan is changed when one parent resides outside Oregon.
It is also changed if the parent without custody has problems that make
the schedule unsafe or unwise for the child. Parenting time can be supervised
or conditioned on the visiting parent successfully completing a UA (urine
analysis) which would show the presence of alcohol or illegal substances.
